Frequently asked questions

Last updated:

Everything people usually ask before buying: what GoInterview actually does, which meeting apps it works with, how coding rounds are handled, what it costs, and what happens to your data.

What does GoInterview do?

GoInterview is a macOS-native AI interview copilot. When you run a mock interview, it captures your computer's system audio, transcribes the question in real time, and shows talking points, STAR-structured answers and coding solutions in a separate on-screen panel, so you can rehearse until your delivery is smooth. For interview practice and self-improvement only.

How does the real-time part work, and which meeting apps are supported?

It listens to your computer's system audio rather than your microphone, so it works with any meeting app that plays sound through the system — Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Tencent Meeting, Feishu, Skype and the rest. Suggestions appear in a separate on-screen panel.

Where do the answer suggestions appear?

In a separate small window on your own screen, so you can glance at the prompt and keep organising what you want to say while you practise.

Does it handle coding questions?

Yes. Screenshot the problem and it gives you a 2–5 line summary first — the approach plus time and space complexity — then the full solution, ordered so you can talk through it step by step as you write. More detail on the coding interview page.

Does it work for interviews conducted in English?

Yes. The listening language and the answer language are set separately — you can listen in English and answer in English while keeping the interface in Chinese, which is what most people want when practising for an English-language role.

Does it need an internet connection? Are my recordings uploaded?

Live transcription and answer generation call an AI service, so an internet connection is required, and your questions and answers are sent to the cloud to be processed. See the Terms of Service for details.

Local files such as recordings stay on your machine by default, and you can clear them at any time in Settings.

Which systems are supported?

macOS 12 and later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel. A Windows version is in closed beta and has not been publicly released.

Licences are one device per key: a key binds to a single machine on first activation. If you genuinely need to move to a new machine, contact support to request an unbind.

How much does it cost? Is there a free version?

There is a free 2-hour trial with no feature restrictions during that window. Paid licences are a one-time purchase across four tiers, $39.99 to $499 USD — no subscription, no auto-renewal.

Is GoInterview legit?

GoInterview is built and run by an independent developer, not a company, and gointerview.tech is its only official site. It is unrelated to the Go programming language or the Go interview platform gointerview.dev. There is a free 2-hour trial so you can judge it before paying; we do not publish star ratings or testimonials. More on the about page.

How do schools and training providers buy licences?

A team edition is available from 10 seats, with custom configuration and learner management. Email hi@gointerview.app and we will arrange a demo and a quote.

For practice only. GoInterview is intended for interview practice and self-improvement. It must not be used during a real interview, exam or any form of assessment — see the Terms of Service.
